Hi.

Playgrounds, spraygrounds, and pools are a fun way to get Moms and kids out of the house and in the sunshine. Long Island has a multitude of fantastic playgrounds for residents and guests to enjoy.

Stotzky Memorial Park

This park is almost hidden inside a residential area but has some neat surprises. The playground sits inside a nice wooded area with picnic tables.

The playground has several newer, separate sections and is fenced in. It is located next to baseball fields and a skateboard park with the bathrooms outside the fence but a short walk away. The ground is wood chips with some concrete. It is mostly sunny with a gazebo for a little shade.

There are the usual monkey bars and swings but there are also exercise bikes for the kids to play on. For hot days there are three sunflower sprinklers which are activated individually by a timer button on the pole.

GOOD FOR: Letting the kids run around and have fun after pumpkin picking or wine tasting on the North Fork.

BEST FEATURE: Sprinklers and exercise bikes.

YOU SHOULD KNOW: Parking is a short walk to the playground, which is out of sight from the entrance. Park in the back and walk around the daycare. Also, there seemed to be a lot of older (but nice) kids at the playground because of the adjacent fields and skateboard park.

WORTH A LONG DRIVE: Yes, but only if you make a day of it on a pick-your-own farm or vineyard.
