Hi.

Playgrounds, spraygrounds, and pools are a fun way to get Moms and kids out of the house and in the sunshine. Long Island has a multitude of fantastic playgrounds for residents and guests to enjoy.

South Haven County Park Playground

South Haven County Park Playground

This park is beautiful with two separate playgrounds. The amazing woodsy smell is delightful while the kids run around.

THE LEFT PLAYGROUND is very visible from the parking lot. This one is closer to the shooting range and you can hear the shots but it is still peaceful. It is also near the picnic area and baseball field. There are tic-tac-toe and math games as well as a ton of slides (bumpy, tube, narrowing short slide, double slide, and corkscrew slide). There are swings outside the fence, away from the playground.

The ground is wood chips with ranch style fencing. There is some shade in the morning but it gets sunnier later in the day. Restrooms are nearby at the parking lot edge.

BEST FEATURE: Rolling logs that the kids learn to balance.

GOOD FOR: A picnic day in the park or a rest from traffic going to or back from out east.

YOU SHOULD KNOW: Shooting range is quite close and you can hear shots continuously. The park is free during the week but there is an $8 parking fee on summer weekends.

THE RIGHT PLAYGROUND is almost identical but smaller version to the left playground but located deeper in the woods. There is a small peek of the nearby lake. Here there are swings, tic-tac-toe games, rolling logs, and a slide. There is also an old-looking, metal trolley car climber. This playground is much shadier.

The ground again is wood chips and there are restrooms located nearby.

WORTH A LONG DRIVE: No, not for the playground alone.
