Hi.

Playgrounds, spraygrounds, and pools are a fun way to get Moms and kids out of the house and in the sunshine. Long Island has a multitude of fantastic playgrounds for residents and guests to enjoy.

Larsen Park Playground

This is a really cute, woodsy neighborhood playground, right on Peninsula Blvd. Thankfully it's also completed fenced-in, with a closable gate so kids can't escape.

The playground has three main play sections and a long line of swings. The equipment appears mostly quite new and is primarily in the shade. The first section is for the younger kids with a brightly colored slides. There is a funny-looking bouncer and see-saw which are probably from the previous playground. The middle section is for climbers and has a tall rock climb and helix structures which my son loved. The farthest away section is for the older kids and has a bridge, tunnel, twisty slide, and all kinds of ladders. This section is the most sunny.

There are no restrooms. The ground under the play sections are wood chips with asphalt pathways and lawn. There is also sand, probably remnants of the former playground here. Picnic tables scattered around could support a nice meet-up lunch.

BEST FEATURE: Double helix climbing structures that were easy enough and challenging enough.

GOOD FOR: Playtime in the shade, stopping by Doughology afterward.

YOU SHOULD KNOW: Major road but it feels quiet because of the large trees that provide great shade.

WORTH A LONG DRIVE: Yes, if you have plans in the nearby area.
