Playgrounds, spraygrounds, and pools are a fun way to get Moms and kids out of the house and in the sunshine. Long Island has a multitude of fantastic playgrounds for residents and guests to enjoy.

Jones Beach Playgrounds

Jones Beach Playgrounds

There are two playgrounds at Jones Beach, one on the Boardwalk from Field 2 parking lot and the other at Zach's Bay from Field 5 parking lot.

THE BOARDWALK PLAYGROUND is located east between the West Bathhouse and the West Games Area. Park at Field 2 and walk east. This is a large playground with two sections, newish but faded. There are very tall and short slides, platforms and bridges, tunnels, musical features, and a few rock slides. There are usually quite a few kids here but the playground is big enough that it doesn't feel crowded. Note the big kid and little kid areas are all together.

There is rubber ground with some surrounding grass. For shade there are two gazebos for Moms to sit. The restrooms are located at the Westbathhouse. This playground is fenced in and sunken below the boardwalk so it is mostly contained.

Without the Empire Passport, the parking fee is $10 but you can go for free after 4pm weekdays and after 6pm on weekends.

GOOD FOR: Taking a break from a nice walk on the boardwalk at dusk.

BEST FEATURE: The truck front with seats and wheels.

YOU SHOULD KNOW: There is an added bonus that you can perfectly hear the music from the Bandshell concerts. There is music, a magic show, or movie almost every night between 7-8pm so check out the schedule ahead of time. The bandshell is a bit more east down the boardwalk.

ZACH'S BAY PLAYGROUND is located at Field 5. You will see the playground just in front of the bay beach within view of the theater.

The playground is medium-sized with two separate play areas and 7 swings. There are slides and lots of faux rock climbs, and tic tac toe features. Its very sunny with no shade which has faded the colors. There is a gazebo which gives a little shade for Moms. The ground is a mix of sand and rubber as well as the surrounding lawn. There are restrooms and old changing stations in the beach area.

GOOD FOR: Taking a break from the beach. You can also take the bike path from Cedar Creek which leads right to the playground. Perfect if you strapped the kids on the back and they need a break.

BEST FEATURE: The views are incredible and at night there is a nice bay breeze.

YOU SHOULD KNOW: There is very limited seating for parents. Also, while the playground is fenced in, there is no gate that closes access to the beach which is a short walk away.
