Eisenhower Park Playgrounds
Eisenhower Park is enormous and has two fantastic playgrounds.
FIELD 4 PLAYGROUND is very large and shady. The equipment looks fairly new and is in great condition with a Dr. Seuss-like style. There are rope webs to climb, a large and shaky suspension bridge, musical areas, a sandbox, swings, and rotating cups. There are several separate play sections for different ages which are spread out across a large and fenced in area with rubber ground. The restrooms are located near the entrance. Adjacent to the playground are tree-filled fields to run and picnic.
FIELD 2 PLAYGROUND is also very large and shady. The equipment looks brand new and again has a Dr. Seuss-like style. This playground also has several separate systems for different ages spread out within a large fenced in area with rubber ground. There are lots of options for kids to play here with several rope webs, lots of hanging and climbing systems, and elevated bridges. The restrooms are located inside near the sprayground area. The sprayground is a rather older-looking, large, concrete circle and is very sunny. It's oddly very exposed to the traffic on Hempstead Turnpike. Surrounding the playground are cleared and tree-filled fields to run and picnic.
FIELD 1A shows a playground but it is really just a huge picnic table area with a few swings. This is located next to the flying trapeze area and Aquatic Center.
GOOD FOR: Filling up a whole day at the playground, sprayground, and fields.
BEST FEATURE: Lots sections for kids to play music, climb, hang, swing, and run.
YOU SHOULD KNOW: The park is enormous and hard to navigate it on the fly. Check out the map and figure out where you want to go before you get there. Also, Nassau County runs a camp in the park 9am-3pm in the summertime and access to the playground/sprayground may be limited.
WORTH A LONG DRIVE: Yes, the park is huge and has a lot to offer.
