Acorn Lane Park Playground
This playground is set wide across the length of the Acorn Lane Pool in the middle of a residential area, off Wantagh Avenue. The playground has three distinct sections which can be annoying if you have kids running to separate areas because you'll have to move with them in order to see them.
The west-most play set has two slides, some tunnels, and a cute pirate cut out which is great for pictures. There are some older bouncy animals towards the back. The swing area has both big and little kid swings and an older seesaw and bouncy animals. The east-most play set appears much newer than the other sections. Here there is a meandering slide, a ribbon climb, slides, a faux rob climb, a chain ladder, and a pole bridge.
The two playground sets have wood chips underneath and the swings have sand. There are some trees on one side of the playground that provide some shade and a tiny park-like feeling. Seating is minimal as there are only three benches that face the playground. There are no restrooms accessible to the playground.
BEST FEATURE: The climbing ribbon which is just high enough to be challenging.
GOOD FOR: Letting the kids run off energy before or after shopping at Levittown Target, Old Navy, and Kohls on Hempstead Turnpike.
YOU SHOULD KNOW: The playground feels a little bit exposed, as it is set against the not private pool which is lively in the summer and has no fencing against the road. There is a little bit of grass to separate from the road but it's not much if you have a wild runner. Also, there is the NJ Grunts Sports Bar attached to the nearby Levittown Lanes. Seems odd next to a playground but it only opens at 6pm.
WORTH A LONG DRIVE: No, but worth a short drive.
